Spain's digital nomad visa, without the surprises

The figures they actually ask for, the two ways to apply, and the documents that need translating. Check whether you meet the income requirement in ten seconds.

Minimum income

a month, gross, for a single applicant
Via a consulate
1 year
initial visa, applied for from your country
Via the UGE
3 years
residence permit, applied for inside Spain
UGE decision
20 days
to resolve, by regulation

Two routes, and you should pick before translating anything

They don't lead to the same place. The difference isn't only the length: it decides when your translations have to be ready.

From your country, at a consulate

Visa of up to 1 year

  • Applied for before you travel, at the consulate covering where you live
  • The appointment sets the pace: everything must be translated beforehand
  • You sort out the residence card after arriving in Spain
  • Applying from the US? Confirm which consulate covers your state before booking — filing at the wrong one gets your application returned

From inside Spain, at the UGE-CE

Permit of up to 3 years

  • You apply straight for residence, no prior visa
  • Renewable for a further two years
  • The rules give the UGE twenty days to decide
  • You enter as a tourist and build the file here, with room to breathe

The paperwork is much the same either way. What changes is the date it has to be on the table.

Do you meet the income requirement?

The bar tracks Spain's minimum wage, so it moves every year. Enter your gross monthly income and how many people are coming with you.

You need to show€2,849/mes

These are gross figures, before tax, not what reaches your account. Calculated on the minimum wage set by Real Decreto 126/2026.

Figures verified against the BOE and the UGE-CE portal, not third-party sites.

Apostille first, translate second

It's the mistake that sends back the most files, and the order is counterintuitive. The apostille is a page attached to the original: translate first and it gets left out.

  1. 01

    Request the document

From whoever issues it: FBI, ACRO, casier judiciaire, your university, the company registry.

  2. 02

    Get it apostilled

Department of State in the US, the FCDO Legalisation Office in the UK, the cour d'appel in France.

  3. 03

    Send us the whole thing

Document and apostille together. A scan or a clear photo is fine.

  4. 04

    We translate all of it

In a single sworn translation, on official Spanish stamped paper and digitally signed.

And the other way round: a sworn translation does not replace the apostille. The apostille certifies the document is genuine; the translation certifies it says in Spanish what the original says.

What needs translating

Tick what you hold in another language and we'll price the sworn translation. The first five apply to almost everyone.

The translation shouldn't be your problem

We don't file the visa and we don't give legal advice — that's for your lawyer or the UGE. What we guarantee is that your documents arrive in Spanish, properly done and on time, by a translator appointed by Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and on official stamped paper.
